WHO WAS ERTUGRUL?

WHY “ GHAZI” IS USED IN HIS NAME?

It comes from the Arabic word ghazwa, which means "He Rides" or "He Makes War," and is used to describe a warrior who has promised to fight the infidels. Mujaheed GHAZI is a subset of Mujaheed.

Ertugrul was a brave champion and combatant who triumphed in numerous wars for the sake of Islam. He also resembled a Mujaheed. People began to refer to him as Ghazi as a result of this.

HALIMA SULTAN

ERTUGRUL married Halima Sultan who was Sultan Alauddin's niece. She was a Seljuk princess who devoted herself entirely to her spouse. She was a strong woman and the matriarch of her clan. She was also very important in Ertugrul's life. She was Ertugrul's one and only wife.

With Halima Sultan, he had three sons: Gohar, Shehryar, and Usman.

YOUNGEST SON USMAN

Usman, the Ottoman Empire's first Sultan was born in Sought, near Basra, in 1258 AD. Usman arrived late in Ertugrul's and Halima's lives when Ertugrul was 67 years old and Halima was also older, and Allah sent Usman to the world as a miracle. He, like his father, was an exceptional child.

DEATH, S OF ERTUGRUL GHAZI

Ertugrul Ghazi, the renowned Muslim conqueror, and historian died in 1280, or 1281 AD, at the age of 90, and was buried at Sogut, where he lived the final ten years of his life calmly in his tribe. According to certain historical texts, Ertugrul died as a result of his grief over the loss of his wife, Halima Sultan.

USMAN AS THE FATHER OF THE OTTOMAN EMPIRE

Usman's name, Uthman in Arabic, was the source of the term Ottoman. Usman Ghazi, the progenitor of the Ottoman dynasty, was only 23 years old when he took over the Kayi tribe's leadership in Sogut in 1281.

When Ertugrul grew old, he delegated all of his responsibilities to Usman, his youngest son. Usman, like his father, was a remarkable leader who was fearless, courageous, wise, and honest. He was a master in horseback riding,  good sword fighting, and perfecting military techniques. He aided the underprivileged and even gave his clothes to them on occasion.

STRUGGLES OF USMAN GHAZI

  1. He united many Turcoman groups and battled the Byzantines; he severed Byzantine trade channels and compelled all local rulers to surrender, and he allied with the Seljuk Alaeddin Keyubad I.
  1. In the year 1299, Usman restored the Seljuk Empire under his own control, laying the foundation for the Ottoman Empire.
  1. Usman developed the necessary steps for the nascent Ottoman Empire with all of his military methods. He also enacted new regulations based on Seljuk law, such as taxation procedures and the minting of the first Ottoman coin (Akce), among other things.
  1. Usman established the Khilafah, which became known as the Caliphate of Usmania.

USMAN’S DEATH

In 1326, at the age of 68, the famous founder of the Ottoman Empire and a brave son of Ertugrul Ghazi died of gout in Sogut and was buried in Bursa. He was the Ottoman Empire's ruler for nearly 27 years.
